Privacy Policy
F1Track is an independent, fan-built live Formula 1 timing app for iPhone and Apple Watch, with a Home Screen widget, Live Activity, and watch complications. This policy explains what data the app and website handle, in plain English. The short version: the app has no account or login, there is no analytics or advertising tracking, and the optional website waitlist stores only the email address you submit.
No account, no login
F1Track works the moment you open it. There is no in-app sign-up or log-in. The app never asks for your name, email address, phone number, or contacts and does not read them. The optional website waitlist described below is separate from the app.
No tracking, no analytics, no ads
F1Track contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs and performs no cross-app or cross-website tracking. The app's Apple privacy manifest declares that it does not track you. The app uses on-device storage (UserDefaults) only to remember your settings and run its own features — never to profile or follow you.
Website launch waitlist (optional)
If you join the waitlist on this website, we collect the email address you enter, the date and time you consented, and a fixed source label indicating that the signup came from the F1Track website. We use this information only to email you when F1Track launches. We do not add it to an advertising profile, sell it, or share it with data brokers.
Waitlist submissions are sent directly to the first-party F1Track backend and stored in a private persistent data file. The public signup endpoint applies basic rate limiting and a hidden spam trap; it does not retain your IP address or browser details. You can ask us to remove your email at any time by contacting support@f1track.app.
Race data we fetch
To show live timing and the season schedule, the app fetches publicly available Formula 1 timing and schedule data from race-data providers. Depending on the data source you select, this is either OpenF1 or an optional first-party F1Track backend gateway that may aggregate providers such as SportMonks along with weather metadata.
Driver and team imagery (headshots and logos) shown in the app is also supplied by these providers and used under the terms of their respective licences. It is fetched over the network purely to display the race; it is not used to identify or track you, and the rights to that imagery remain with its owners.
These are ordinary network requests. As with any app that connects to the internet, your device's IP address is necessarily visible to the servers that handle those requests so they can return a response. We do not use this to build a profile of you, and the app sends no personal identifiers with these requests.
Push notifications (optional)
Race alerts are entirely optional and off until you enable them. If you turn them on, iOS generates an Apple Push Notification service (APNs) device token and the app sends that token, together with your notification preferences (such as which events and which favourite driver you care about), to the F1Track backend.
The backend stores the token and your preferences so it can deliver smart alerts — pit stops, position changes, flags, and favourite-driver events — and de-duplicate them so you don't get buzzed twice for the same moment. This token identifies your device for notification delivery; it is not your name or account.
You can turn notifications off at any time, either in iOS Settings or inside the app. Doing so stops alert delivery and unregisters your device on the backend, removing the association.
Purchases (F1Track Pro)
F1Track Pro is an auto-renewable subscription processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit and your Apple ID. Apple handles the payment. The app receives only your entitlement status — that is, whether Pro is currently active — and stores that flag locally on your device. We never see or receive your payment card, billing details, or full Apple ID.
On-device storage
To render instantly and work well offline, F1Track caches the latest race snapshot, the schedule, and your preferences — favourite driver, chosen data source, and dashboard layout — locally on your device. Some of this is stored in a shared App Group container so the widget and watch complications can display up-to-date information without re-fetching.
This data stays on your device(s). Your preferences may sync from your iPhone to your Apple Watch using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework, which keeps the two devices you own in step. We do not collect or receive this data on a server.
Children
F1Track is a general-audience app and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you are not old enough to consent to email communications where you live, do not join the waitlist.
Data retention and deletion
Because there is no account, there is very little to delete. Uninstalling the app removes the on-device cache and your preferences from that device. For notifications, disabling alerts (unregistering) removes the association between your device token and your preferences on the backend.
Waitlist email addresses are retained until the launch email has been sent and for no more than 90 days afterward, unless you ask us to delete yours sooner. Requests can be sent to support@f1track.app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the updated version on this page with a revised "Last updated" date above.
